Pelican Elementary Playground

Universally Accessible Playground at Pelican Elementary

Every child deserves a place to play. The current playground at Pelican Elementary has reached the end of its lifespan. With equipment nearly 20 years old and sections currently cordoned off for safety, the time for a total transformation is now.

Why This Project Matters

Play is a fundamental part of a child’s social, emotional, and physical development. However, the current pea gravel surfacing and aging structures at Pelican Elementary create barriers for students with mobility challenges and sensory needs.

Our vision is to raise $425,000 to install a state-of-the-art, universally accessible playground featuring poured-in-place rubber surfacing and inclusive equipment that ensures no student is left on the sidelines.

Planned Features:

  • Inclusive Structures: Equipment designed for children of all abilities to interact together.
  • Poured Rubber Surfacing: Replacing gravel to allow easy access for wheelchairs and walkers.
  • Sensory Play Elements: Engaging equipment for students with diverse developmental needs.
  • Safe & Modern Equipment: Full removal of aging and high-maintenance legacy structures.
